We've done it!
The Centre has gained top marks in our re-assessment for the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) Our Centre has been given a grade of five which is classed as "Excellent".
The MQEM is used for assessing whether cancer care environments meet the standards required by people living with the disease. We first gained this award in August 2012 and received a grade of four which was classed as "Very good".
"The award was given to us in recognition of the fabulous environment of our building. We are awarded every three years and it helps to ensure people affected by cancer are treated and supported properly.
If standards drop below a certain level, they will take the award away from us, but after they have inspected our building again we not only retained the award but we also bettered it.
We are absolutely delighted. A big thank-you to our team of volunteers who have helped work towards improving our services we provide. The teamwork, dedication and commitment from our volunteers is fantastic. It is hard work but is very rewarding. We're here so that people don't feel alone"

All Welcome
We have been holding regular Health Choir sessions on Friday afternoons in the centre since summer 2013,
Susie Dingle - Professional musician/conductor has been leading these sessions.
We would now like to expand this into a community health choir and would like to welcome
other health groups and individuals to join us.
Health choirs are for everyone and not just those lucky enough to be able to sing, it is a much publicised fact that the exercise involved in singing is very beneficial for our health.
If you are interested then please join us on Friday afternoons in the Cancer Centre at 2.15pm. The choir will last for approximately an hour and the cost per person is £2.
Looking forward to seeing you.

The TSB Bank are supporting local charities. TSB branches in Thurso & Wick are supporting the NHCSIC as their local charity and will be doing fund raising to help support us! This involves some off the staff doing a sky dive in August! We are so grateful for your efforts & support!
We have our Macmillan QEM re-assessment is on Thursday 28th May 2015, It has been 3 years since we got the award and our premises have to be inspected again, so we very much hope that we will be successful in keeping the award.
