North Highland Cancer Information and Support Centre (NHCISC) - Thurso
The NHCISC in Thurso has been working closely with Macmillan Cancer Support and they have secured funding for three part-time posts at the Centre. These are exciting and challenging posts that will require personnel to have drive, enthusiasm and an empathetic manner to support people living with cancer. There is no other facility in the north of Scotland that offers this level of service. Macmillan Health and Wellbeing Manager
21.5hrs and approx. £25k per annum
Manage the day-to-day running of the Centre by demonstrating clear leadership in taking the Centre forward to ensure cancer support is secured for many years to come.
Manage the day-to-day running of the Centre by demonstrating clear leadership in taking the Centre forward to ensure cancer support is secured for many years to come.
- Establish funding routes to ensure staff are employed beyond the 3-year grant period
- Lead the staff team by working closely with the trustees, volunteers and members by having clearly defined goals and objectives
- Maintain records to a high standard.
- Ensure meetings are planned well in advance and complete returns as required.
- Liaise closely with members and volunteers to understand how the Centre works and identify areas of improvement.
- Include self-development along with that of your staff, the NHCISC volunteers and members.

Macmillan Volunteer Coordinator
21.5hrs and approx. £18.k
- Be a team player by working closely with the other staff, volunteers and members.
- Have the confidence to engage with others in a friendly, sociable and empathetic manner.
- Create positive links with other agencies to develop cancer support services in the area.
- Keep a track of work progress and meet the objectives given by the ODM.
- A core objective will be the recruitment of volunteers to support current demands along with future developments.
- Deliver the Volunteer Friendly Award scheme for the Volunteers.
Macmillan Project / Programme Officer
14.5hrs and approx. £11.6k per annum
Be a team player by working closely with the other staff, volunteers and members.

- Be innovative in finding communication solutions for all.
- Develop our web site, Facebook and WhatsApp messaging system (or others)
- Create external communication links and pathways for members to other agencies.
- Deliver training to members so they can communicate more effectively by using smart phones, tablets, apps and other tools that improve accessibility.
